New Coaster For 2009
Thorpe Park have recently submitted a planning application to build a new roller coaster in the Canada Creek area of the park as was detailed in the 2004-2009 MTDP outline which was approved by Runnymede Council. The ride plans show the popular Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter coaster, similar to Oakwood's 'Speed: No Limits'. It is expected that this model will highly differ with a completely custom layout, beginning dark section, black track and supports, and have sound dampening material filling the track. The B&M flying coaster idea seems to have been dropped.

Island and Bridges
The station building, queue line, and lift / drop structures will be located on the new island which has been partly created in Abbey lake next to Samurai. The plan on the left shows the current size of the new infill (16/11/07), and the area that is proposed to fit the new ride. On completion the new land mass will be cut off from the rest of the park, and be accessible via two bridges, left of Samurai's entrance, and a new path created via the walkway under Colossus's inline twists. Part of Colossus's queue line will be modified to accommodate the second bridge.

Station - Two cars load at a time
Layout The coaster consists of a drop out of the station down to the ground floor level in the 'saw mill' building, where it completes two turns before entering a zero-g roll. After exiting the building, the car will turn before reaching the 30m lift hill. This is a completely vertical climb, quite intimidating for a first time rider. Once at the top there is minimal time to enjoy the view before dropping down at a 97 degree angle straight in to the large second inversion, an Immelmann loop. The ride continues by running through banked turns, block brakes and in to second Immelmann loop, before finishing in the brake run then back to the station.
John Wardley, an industry consultant has been involved with the project, which has been welcomed by enthusiasts due to his creative input on rides such as Nemesis and Oblivion at Alton Towers in the 90's. The coaster has been compared closely to Dollywood's 'Mystery Mine', as it seems a very similar concept. It has been rumoured that half the total budget has been set aside for theming alone, and with a full dark ride section before the car reaches the lift hill, the potential for a fantastic ride is there, possibly surpassing the Tennessee ride. On the right is an example of how the saw mill may look on the new island, without the coaster or other landscaping.
